PURPOSE AND USE OF FOOTAGE/PHOTOGRAPHS

The event organized is of a public nature, therefore any personal data that may be collected through photographic images, or audio-video footage, will be carried out for the prevailing purpose related and instrumental to the documentation of the event carried out using, for the purpose, the dissemination of the same by means of the means of communication most widely used today, such as the Holder’s website and social networks (Facebook, You Tube etc.)

The images collected will therefore be mainly aimed at the environmental context in which the public event itself takes place, taking care not to take close-up or frontal shots of the faces of those present, but at angles that limit the recognizability of the subjects and/or taken from a long distance.

It should be noted that pursuant to Article 97 of Law 633/1941, “The consent of the person portrayed is not required when the reproduction of the image is justified by notoriety or public office covered (…), by scientific, educational or cultural purposes, or when the reproduction is related to facts, events, ceremonies of public interest or held in public.” Therefore, consent will not be required from the person concerned caught in photographic or video images that are taken in places and spaces at which university public events are held (conferences, press conferences, workshops, meetings and public outreach actions, orientation initiatives and salons, etc., also carried out at non-university locations such as municipal halls, city spaces, etc.). In fact, it is more than reasonable to assume that participants in a sporting, social event, or scientific congress of national importance are well aware of, if not even take satisfaction from, the likelihood of being portrayed in it, and that processing of such data takes place for the purpose of publicizing and promoting the event itself as part of the organizer’s activities.

If this condition is met, it is possible to invoke, as a legal basis for processing, the legitimate interest of the operator which does not require consent from the data subject
